Compass 888 modems have the ability to roam globally on tri-band UMTS and quad-band GSM/EDGE networks so you can stay connected wherever your travel schedule takes you. Came without the endcap and Customer Service said they didn't have any spares as it was bought "used, as-is." Will look next for a "slider" type where there is no endcap. Otherwise it works great. The 889 worked well on O2 in Germany. In reading reviews I see where there is controversy over the "locked-unlocked" issue. I was told ReplaceYourCell uses it's own software to make sure it's unlocked and will work on any GSM carrier. Happy Travels!

Took it to Italy where I walked into Vodafone and bought their 20-euro special.....10-euro for the data-sim and 10-euro for 3ggb bandwidth over 30-days. They scanned the card and said, "Wait two hours." I inserted the sim and stuck the AirCard in the USB slot. It began downloading the necessary drivers/software. It's called "3G Watcher." Two hours later my AcerOne was connected. The Vodafone data-sim has a life of one year before it dies. You must top-up for additional months to keep it going...
